The Pink Lid 2017
I am so excited for this year’s conference! First because we are back at Segadores, which we are totally loving! Vanessa Garcia Cruz and her team at Segadores have been such a God-send for The Pink Lid. We have teamed up together with them and we are already planning all the amazing content and FUN for the girls that will be attending. Looking back over the last 11 years that I have been doing The Pink Lid, I couldn’t be more excited for what the future holds and where it is right now! There have been hundreds of girls that have attended The Pink Lid over the years and my hope is reach so many more.
This year is very special to me because of the focus of our theme. I have had countless girls contact me over the years telling me that they felt too dirty to come to The Pink Lid. What they didn’t understand is that is exactly who The Pink Lid is for. Jesus’ whole reason for coming to the earth was for those who felt shamed by sin.
“I’ve come to call sinners to change the way they think and act, not to call people who think they have God’s approval.” Luke 5:32 GW
I want every girl no matter how clean or dirty they feel to know that they are welcome to come through the doors at The Pink Lid.
“So you, return to your God; guard grace and justice, and look to your God always.” Hosea 12:6 ISV
GOMER – RETURN TO ME
One of the catchiest songs of all time is Beyoncé’s Irreplaceable. ‘To the left, to the left. Everything you own in a box to the left!’ (Now you are singing that song in your head.) If you keep singing, which most of us are doing out loud right now, you’ll get to these lines:
You must not know ’bout me
You must not know ’bout me
I can have another you by tomorrow.
So don’t you ever for a second get to thinking you’re irreplaceable.
We were all like, ‘Yeah! Burn me and I’ll replace you, block you, unfriend you, talk about you, date your best friend and put all your stuff in a box to the left!’
Because life can be harsh sometimes we often develop a mindset that people are replaceable. Even the meaningful and intimate relationships in our lives.
But if anyone can be replaced, does that mean that you can be replaced? Maybe you deserve it, maybe you don’t? For example, what if you cheated? You knew it was wrong to be unfaithful but you wanted to do it anyway. You lied about it, tried to hide it, and refused to admit it when they asked you. But what if they caught you? Do you deserve to be replaced?
This year, at the Pink Lid, we will be sharing the unlikely love story about a prostitute named Gomer who wouldn’t stop sleeping around and a husband named Hosea who wouldn’t replace her. God called Hosea to literally buy her back from another man because God was trying to send a message to His people that they are irreplaceable.
Jesus doesn’t put your stuff in a box to the left. Rather, Jesus pursues you throughout your entire life. You are truly irreplaceable. You have value. Not because of what you have done, but because of who Jesus is. Jesus didn’t come for the pure, the virgins and the Disney princesses. He came for the Gomers, and He saying to her, ‘return to me.’
I would love to have you at The Pink Lid this year! If you are a girl in middle school, high school or college make plans to meet us in South Florida October 20-21. Visit www.thepinklid.com for all the details and tickets!
