The Ho Shot
The infamous ‘Ho Shot’. What is it? It is when a girl holds the camera above her head and takes a picture of herself (camera points straight down the chest). This is the way prostitutes take pictures of themselves. I am not going to go into all the details to why they take pictures of themselves in this way, but it is in reference to how a guy would see her while she is servicing him. The look on her face and the emphasis on her boobs is very provocative.
Sadly, this is how millions of girls and women alike are taking and posting pictures of themselves. I truly think that girls/women want to be attractive to men, but they fail to realize that they are attracting the wrong attention. This has snuck into the Christian world, so many of my Christian friends on Facebook have pictures of themselves in this way. Do you realize the message you are giving off?
You are beautiful just the way you are, you don’t have to pucker your lips, look seductive in your eyes, and push up and emphasis your breasts to get attention.
Also, let me talk about girls taking pictures of themselves in the bathroom when they are half dressed. These pictures are inviting the wrong kind of attention. The bathroom is a private place and usually girls aren’t fully dressed in these shots. I know they are trying to look attractive but I feel like it comes across cheap. Don’t share private moments with the public. Once a picture is posted online its free game for anyone to take.
This should be a given, but girls taking pictures of themselves lying in bed is a big NO. Girls may think it is harmless, but for some guys, when they look at that, it stirs images and fantasies of you and them in bed. You may be like ‘Alyssa you are crazy, no way!’ Yes way! You have to remember men are visual. What does not stir a woman sexually, can stir a man sexually.
“Or didn’t you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don’t you see that you can’t live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 MSG
The Bible is clear on this, we need to promote God through our bodies and not promote sexual sin. When you take pictures of yourself in this way, you are promoting sexiness not godliness.
Ladies, I want to protect you, this is why I am writing with passion. I want you to strive to respect yourself and your body. One way to do this is by not posting inappropriate pictures of yourselves online. You want a guy who will love you for you and not the sexual image you are giving off.
I challenge you right now to go to your Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook and remove all the pictures of yourself that are provocative. Live for purity and protect your brothers in Christ eyes’. You want a man who loves you, not lusts after you.
